20 Steel wheel for defender
Anyone know of a cheap steel wheel to use as spare to help reduce risk of theft

Do any old discovery or RR wheels fit please?

Disco 3 / 4 the PCD, but LR only made a 19" NOT 20.

VW wheels fit. But T5, T6, were only 18" (even for the Amarok)

All others I can find are alloys.

Just had a second thought. LR 18" wheels are steel white painted.

BUT, LR did an alloy 20" wheel which looks like an 18" steel.

would the thieves know the difference ???

I wanted something not worth steeling for parking at airport etc, but in retrospect someone selling 5x 20 defender alloys for £350……
Might just buy 5 😂

yes the PCD is the same 5x120.

But rolling circumference is very different as your road wheels are 20" and white steels are only 18", add the tyre aspect ratio to that and you could be looking at a much smaller overall rolling tyre.

earlier Defender wheels DO NOT fit New Defender.

Here is a list of LR wheels that have a 5 x 120 PCD

You will notice most will be alloys on these vehicles. So to find a 20" steel, is going to be difficult. Mad

If it’s just for parking then why not just get a cheap set of take-off 18” steels - there are loads available out there?

Contrary to the incorrect information above, all the factory wheel/tyre fitments are interchangeable in terms of rolling circumference so there is no impact on speedo. As the wheels get bigger the tyre profile reduces to match, keeping overall diameter the same.

"all the factory wheel/tyre fitments are interchangeable in terms of rolling circumference"

But you have to look at all the variables for that to be true.

for instance I have 18" LR Wheels with Pirelli ATs 255.60.R18, where as the white steel wheels are 255.70.R18.

Beware !

Which is why I said factory fitments Rolling Eyes

Of course if you fit different size tyres then it will be different. The point is all the factory tyre/wheel size combinations are the same overall diameter for speedo accuracy purposes.

If it’s just the security of the spare wheel you are worried about, I bought a stainless steel, canvass covered 1.2m long motorcycle security chain from Halfords for about £50 for when I park at Airports and city centre hotel car parks. I take it off when I’m at home.

There is a 1.5m long version which you could rig tightly covering the locking wheelnuts by going twice through the carrier on the back door - the 1200mm long chain is just a bit short to do that.

Terrafirma have this at about £90:

I'd be interested to know if anyone has fitted these, and their thoughts, as I need some steel wheels for more serious off-roading.
