Fuel leak
After a very expensive week... New exhaust, New UJ on propshaft, and a slipping clutch, Today I've noticed this fuel leak...

Any thoughts on where it might be coming from? I'm guessing top of the tank somewhere. I hvent filled up for a few days, and just been for a short drive.

No sign of leak where it's been parked so I'm guessing it's due to it being sloshed about

Fuel breather hose is usually the problem.

I cut a hole in the floor similar to what is shown on page 8 of above link to fix my previous Defender leak. Rolling Eyes

Looks like the breather to me too. I got a garage to change both my breather and filler hose using genuine LR parts.

So I decided to have a little poke around, and a very rusty jubilee clip fell off. I have now replaced, and filled up with fuel, and no leak.

If only every landrover job was that simple!

I was going to suggest checking the Jubilee's.

Learnt from experience to check them first.

Removed my split breather last night, probably the original because the plastic clip tying it to the chassis was still in place, new pipe should arrive today - fiddly job to do in situ, but doable without dropping the tank (mudflap and wheel off, truck secure on axle stand) five minutes with a fine tooth sharp new hacksaw blade to cut off the old crimped clip on the tank connection, wrapped some gorilla tape round for a handle and used as a pull saw.

I assume this was on a 110 ?
Think it’s more difficult on a 90.

110 - still a faff

Avoid ‘marine’ reinforced hose, it’s not flexible enough if you are working in situ and stick with the standard type - don’t ask me how I know this. A flexible 1/4 drive is essential for the jubilee clip
